I’ve always had a soft spot for pretty aprons, feminine accessory symbol of cocooning, well-being at home, super fun to interpret in the second degree and divert it into a dress! I like the idea of its comfort and its large pockets where you can accumulate all kinds of things a bit like a handyman with the tool bag⚒️🥰!! The first draft of this “Modestie” dress came to me watching movies and images from the Amish community. Strange as it may seem, I love the outfits of these women combining robustness, clichés of femininity with this ultra sobriety almos! In the end, I find these women quite touching as they are able to keep these codes of their femininity despite the diffeculté of their daily tasks.
Taking all these symbols, and adding some of my little fun fantasies, my dress “Modestie” was born … Initially intended to come out in thick cotton, I stumbled upon this wonderful French high-fashion jacquard! The twist was perfect and so Marilyn ! 🙂
This “Modestie” dress has been designated and produced in Roubaix, France, in a French white, silver and lemon floral jacquard. It is also so beautifully lined in a lilac or powder pink fabric, 3/4 sleeves, large pockets and big knot in the back. Gorgeous square neckline. Delicately puffed shoulders. Long zip in the back.
